Pathlight School is the first autism-focused school in Singaporeto offer thenational curriculum together with life readiness skills. It caters to students on the autism spectrum with related conditions, aged 7 to 18 years, who are cognitively able to access national curriculum but require additional support such as smaller class sizes, special accommodations and teaching staff trained in autism.

Pathlight School is part of Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) or ARC(S), a not-for-profit charity based in Singapore. ARC(S) is dedicated to serving children and adults on the autism spectrum, to help these individuals lead meaningful and independent lives in society.

Within our campuses, we have Learning Resource Centres or libraries serving as information and learning hubs for our students and we offer a wide array of books and journals as well as digital resources and multi-media tools. These resource centres are to enhance learning experiences and foster information literary and provide a space for both individual and collaborating study

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic individual to join us as Library Assistant and your scope of duties shall include but not limited to the below responsibilities :

• Handle the daily operations and administration of the school library

• Catalogue and maintain the integrity of the bibliographic records

• Organise and maintain library collection including shelving and shelve reading and weeding

• Assist students and teachers with resource inquiries

• Maintain a conducive library environment

• Implement library policies and procedures

• Use the library system to maintain accurate records of students' and teachers' information, including borrowing history and preferences. Track the status and location of library collections to facilitate efficient retrieval and management

• Promote new acquisitions by creating promotional displays and features for new arrivals to increase awareness and visibility of these resources and encourage borrowing

• Work with school stakeholders to conduct regular reviews of the collection to evaluate its relevance and currency, including analysing user feedback, monitoring borrowing trends, and consulting with stakeholders (such as teachers, students, and parents) to understand their interests and educational needs

• Collaborate with suppliers and publishers to procure new library resources that align with curriculum requirements, educational trends, and student interests which could be based on their observations

• Work with school stakeholders and assist organising library programmes and initiatives Support school events/activities

• Attend training courses as assigned by school

• Any other duties as assigned.

  • Min. GCE ‘O’/’A’ Level / ITE / NITEC certificate
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant work experience in related administrative fields
  • Good customer service skills
  • Strong organisational skills with a strong orientation for details
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic work environment
  • Desire to learn about Autism and the passion to help special needs students
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
