Singapore Polytechnic is seeking an innovative individual to enhance library services through research support and the exploration of emerging technologies. The ideal candidate will engage with academic staff, conduct workshops, and foster strategic partnerships within the educational community. A 2-year contract is offered for this dynamic role that champions digital competencies and information literacy.

In this role, you will report to the Manager of the Curation and Research section and work with a team to:
Develop and deliver services, underpinned by the library's rich database collections, that support research.
Champion the exploration and implementation of emerging technologies to enhance all library services and operations.
Partner with academic schools and other polytechnics to equip students and staff with future-ready digital competencies and advanced information literacy.
Responsibilities
Develop Research Support Services: Collaborate with academic staff to develop and pilot a scalable support service for students and staff undertaking systematic and literature reviews. This includes creating and maintaining a suite of accessible resource guides, templates, and workshops to promote the use of library databases and other scholarly review methodologies.
Engage with Academic Schools: Serve as a key library contact for assigned schools, partnering with them on curriculum development and learning resource integration. On top of supporting their specific research and project needs, you will also develop and deliver workshops on essential topics like digital & AI literacy, research skills, and responsible technology use.
Champion Emerging Technology and Innovation: Proactively identify, evaluate, and champion emerging technologies that can enhance the library’s research and user-facing services. You will lead small-scale technology trials and share your findings through hands-on demonstrations to encourage adoption and build team-wide capability.
Foster Strategic Partnerships: Actively contribute to projects with other polytechnic libraries to develop innovative services. You will also support or initiate projects with internal departments and centres, such as the FabLab, to broaden student learning experiences.
Perform officer-in-charge and shift counter duties during term time including handling complex enquiries and assisting with other duties such as patrolling.
What we are looking for
Tertiary qualifications in any discipline
A demonstrated interest in emerging technologies (e.g., AI, data visualization, automation tools) through coursework, projects, or self-study.
Familiarity with the fundamental concepts of academic research and writing.
Innovative, curious, adaptable, and resourceful mindset in seeking and implementing solutions
Self-directed and continuous learner
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to present ideas and proposals to stakeholders.
Team player with ability to reach out and work well with colleagues, staff, students, and external partners
Service-oriented outlook with empathy for users
Successful applicant will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
