Reports to Senior Deputy Director, Learning & Professional Development
Key Responsibilities
(A) Develop and implement LIFTED as the legal industry national competency framework
Assist in the development of SAL’s Legal Industry Framework for Training & Education (LIFTED), including development of knowledge guides for specialist practice areas
Implement LIFTED in the legal industry, including
Supporting career navigation initiatives such as the Lexplorer career coaching programme,
Raising awareness of the framework through various outreach and education efforts
Promoting adoption of the framework by conducting consultation and engagement sessions with training providers, law firms and legal departments, and legal professionals
Engaging and partnering with industry stakeholders such as MinLaw and the Reform of Legal Education Standing Committee to boost awareness and adoption of LIFTED
Facilitate alignment and synergy of LIFTED with other SAL products and services such as the Specialist Accreditation Schemes, Junior Lawyers Professional Certification Programme, structured training programmes, publications, etc.
Support the development of a legal industry training roadmap
Assist in the management of project timelines, budgets, and workstreams to ensure successful implementation
(B) Enhance specialist accreditation as part of professional development infrastructure for the legal industry
Position and grow SAL’s Specialist Accreditation Schemes ("Schemes") as a career development guidance initiative for the legal industry
Engage with Accredited Specialists and potential applicants to understand their needs and obtain feedback on how to enhance and continually improve the Schemes.
Engage and consult with legal authorities such as judiciary members, governmental organisations, and key legal industry figures to obtain feedback and guidance on enhancement and development of the Schemes.
Oversee the administration of SAL’s Specialist Accreditation Schemes ("Schemes"), including the application, selection, and reaccreditation processes.
Assist in the design and establishment of new Schemes for various practice areas, including conducting jurisdictional research, supporting committee work, and drafting guidelines, policies, and procedures for administering the Schemes.
Conceptualise, develop and establish benefits for Accredited Specialists to enhance the Schemes
Tap on synergies between the Schemes and other SAL products and services.
Key Specifications
A recognised law degree with at least 2 years of post-qualification legal experience in a law firm, legal department, or legal academia
Able to build positive and productive relationships with stakeholders and legal professionals. Experience in partner engagement and stakeholder management anda mature network of contacts relevant to the role would be an advantage.
Excellent legal research skills and communication skills.
Excellent analytical, organisational, and project management skills.
Able to engage confidently with members of the Judiciary and legal community
Must be a team player.
