Job description

We are looking for a suitable candidate to support the work of the Law Society’s Knowledge Management Department as a Legal Policy Analyst. This is an invaluable opportunity for a legal professional with a keen interest in issues affecting the legal profession and a desire to develop and implement meaningful solutions to these issues.

This role would suit a candidate with a strong legal or policy background with prior experience working in the legal profession. Data analytics skills and/or familiarity with legal technology would be advantageous. The successful candidate will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time.

The key responsibilities of the Legal Policy Analyst are as follows:

  • Provide skilled support on a wide range of legal projects and strategic legal initiatives, including their co-ordination, implementation and ongoing monitoring;
  • Conduct thorough research into relevant legislation and case law to assess their impact on policy proposals and existing policies;
  • Conduct in-depth data analysis to uncover trends, generate actionable insights, and deliver easy-to-digest reports and strategic summaries;
  • Drafting reports, briefings, presentations and responses on issues relating to legal initiatives and projects as appropriate;
  • Communicating complex legal and policy information to various stakeholders; and
  • Developing and maintaining legal knowledge resources.

Requirements

· Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized university (newly called lawyers will be considered)

· Highly organized and able to prioritize and manage multiple and varied projects with different stakeholders

· Strong administrative, organizational, interpersonal and communication (both written and oral) skills

· Able to work proactively and independently

· Strong interest in the work of the legal profession
