Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice, conduct legal research and analysis for various areas including APAC employment law, intellectual property law, company law, contract law, data protection laws, etc.
  • Research, evaluate and minimise different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations including litigation, financial, and reputational risks
  • Maintaining various in-house databases according to regulations in different jurisdictions including PDPA
  • Draft, review and negotiate settlement documents, contracts, agreements and other legal documents to assure the full legal rights of the group and the company
  • Coordinate and negotiate with external parties (clients, vendors, regulators, external counsels, public authorities etc.)
  • Advice on various legal issues on the business development front including potential liabilities and possible courses of actions
  • Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislations (articles, codes, statutes, bills) in the jurisdictions in which the group and the company operates
  • Provide legal guidance for M&A projects and ventures

Requirements:

  • Recognized law degree from a recognised university in the Commonwealth, preferably qualified to be called to the bar in Singapore
  • At least 3 years’ experience in general commercial practice groups and/or as an in-house legal counsel at a technology/telecommunications company
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • High attention to detail with strong negotiation skills
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion in balancing compliance and business objectives
  • Experience in the other region within Southeast Asia will be an advantage (e.g., Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia)
