Job summary

A leading legal services group in Singapore seeks a Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel to provide comprehensive legal support on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters. The ideal candidate will possess a law degree, at least 7 years of experience in legal practice or corporate environments, and be bilingual in English and Mandarin. Strong analytical skills and independent working capability under pressure are essential. International travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in private practice with an international law firm or in-house at a multinational company.
  • A high degree of integrity and maturity.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts across various sectors.
  • Provide legal support to international business units.
  • Advise on dispute resolution and risk management.
  • Manage external legal counsel as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with laws and regulations.

Job Descriptions:

As a Legal Counsel/Senior Legal Counsel of the Group, you will assist the Chief Legal Officer in providing legal support and advice on all corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters stemming from the Group's global businesses.

1. Draft, review, and negotiate contracts in a variety of areas of commercial, corporate, finance, and compliance relating to multiple industries including logistics & transportation, maritime, and mining & energy.

2. Provide legal desk support and advice to internationally based business units and divisions on various transactions and activities.

3. Advise on matters of dispute resolution and risk management.

4. Manage and engage external counsel as necessary.

5. Ensure company activities in compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.

6. Assist in and take responsibility for other duties and special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:

1. A law degree and admission to practice in a common law jurisdiction (Singapore/UK/Australia/US) required.

2. A minimum of 7 years’ experience in private practice with an international law firm or in-house at a multinational company.

3. Bilingual in English and Mandarin Chinese preferred.

4. Excellent analytical and communication skills.

5. A high degree of integrity, maturity and ability to work independently under pressure with an eye for details.

6. Willingness to travel internationally.
