Qualifications

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute legal professional. This role will act as a trusted advisor to senior management, delivering strategic legal support on international trade, overseas compliance, dispute resolution, and day-to-day business operations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Legal and Commercial Advisory

  • Provide accurate, practical, and business-aligned legal advice on international trade, cross-border investments, and corporate legal affairs.
  • Advise regional leadership on complex legal issues with potential strategic, financial, or reputational impact.

2. Contracting and Negotiation

  • Draft, review, and negotiate high-value and complex commercial contracts, including trade agreements, M&A documents, licensing, and service arrangements.
  • Secure rights, manage risks, and ensure legal compliance across various jurisdictions

3. International Trade Disputes

  • Manage international dispute resolution including litigation and arbitration, especially involving overseas counterparties.

4. Cross-Border M&A and Investment

  • Support legal due diligence, structuring, documentation, and closing for international investment and M&A transactions.
  • Draft legal opinions and coordinate with external legal counsel.

5. Compliance and Risk Management

  • Monitor and manage compliance matters including export controls, antitrust, and anti-corruption regulations.
  • Ensure alignment with internal policies and relevant local laws and global standards.

6. External Counsel & Law Firm Management

  • Establish and manage collaborations with external law firms (especially those specializing in common law jurisdictions), leveraging the company’s Singapore base as a regional legal hub.

7. Stakeholder and Project Management

  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders including senior leadership, regulators, and business partners.
  • Lead or support cross-functional legal projects, ensuring timely and effective delivery.

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of post-qualification legal experience in an international law firm or multinational corporate legal department.
  • Bachelor's degree or above in Law, with additional qualifications in International Trade or Corporate Law preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in international trade, cross-border M&A, compliance, and dispute resolution.
  • Strong grasp of corporate governance, legal risk assessment, and business operations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese (Simplified or Traditional), both written and spoken to liaise with English and Chinese speaking stakeholders.
