The Role

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel with expertise in contracts and technology law, particularly within the energy and resources sector. This remote role involves supporting our digital consulting operations across multiple jurisdictions, including Australia and the USA. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of international law, regulatory frameworks, and multi-jurisdictional project experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Advisory: Provide strategic legal advice on software licensing, development, distribution, intellectual property, and technology commercialization.
  2. Contract Management: Draft, review, and negotiate technology contracts such as licensing agreements, SaaS/PaaS/IaaS, hosting, and engineering software agreements.
  3. Regulatory Compliance: Monitor relevant laws and regulations in Australia and the USA to ensure legal adherence.
  4. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with project teams and management to support project execution.
  5. Risk Management: Identify and mitigate legal risks related to technology projects.
  6. Compliance and Governance: Ensure compliance with Worley's policies and standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university; Australian or international qualifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience, especially in technology projects within energy and resources, including renewable energy and sustainability.
  • Experience in both in-house and private practice is preferred.
  • Knowledge of technology agreements, international law, and industry standards in Australia and the US.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently across multiple jurisdictions and manage various priorities.
