Legal Counsel, Global AI Products

Responsibilities

About the Team:
ByteDance's AI Product Counseling team provides front-line legal support to the company's AI products and services. The team is growing rapidly and seeks experienced, bright, and capable product counseling professionals. The role will be an integral resource for ByteDance's AI product and business teams by reviewing new applications, features, functionalities, and initiatives, providing guidance from a global perspective on legal rights implications and risk mitigation strategies.

This role will be based in Singapore.

Responsibilities:

• Providing daily legal support for the business department of AI models, new products, product features, operations, business cooperation, marketing activities, etc., and independently handling common legal issues.
• Collaborating with internal AI expert legal teams and cross-functional teams, tailoring daily legal assessments.
• Drafting and negotiating contracts and reviewing licensing and data usage agreements.
• Staying informed of evolving global AI laws and regulations to ensure daily legal assessments comply with these laws.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• At least 4 years of practicing law in the candidate's jurisdiction.
• Passionate about technology issues with a strong willingness to learn technical knowledge (such as Machine Learning, AI Agent Platform, AI Coding).
• Rigorous logical thinking and legal research abilities.
• Proficiency in Mandarin (fluent reading and speaking), as the role requires reading Mandarin documents and working with business teams in China.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong collaboration, documentation, presentation, and communication skills.
• In-house experience in an international organization.
• Experience advising on laws related to IP, privacy, consumer protection, minor safety, and platform liability.
