About the Role
I am partnered with a leading Chinese commodities trading house with global presence. We are seeking a mid-level Legal Counsel to join the Singapore office.
This role offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of global commodities trading and corporate advisory within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. You will work closely with trading, operations, compliance, and external counsel across jurisdictions.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate trading-related contracts, including but not limited to:
Master agreements (ISDA, EFET, GTMA, etc.)
Physical commodity contracts
Brokerage, clearing, and logistics agreements
Provide legal support for corporate matters, including regulatory, employment, data privacy, and corporate governance issues
Advise internal stakeholders on legal risk, contract management, and compliance-related queries
Coordinate with external counsel on cross-border matters and litigation when necessary
Stay up to date with legal and regulatory developments impacting commodities trading in APAC and globally
Requirements
Singapore qualified lawyer with 5-7 years of post-qualification experience, with experience from a law firm or in-house at a commodities, trading, or financial services firm
Experience with trading contracts and commercial agreements
Exposure to commodities trading, financial derivatives, or shipping/logistics contracts preferred
Experience handling a broad range of corporate legal and compliance matters
Able to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams across multiple jurisdictions
Fluency in Mandarin is essential to liaise with internal stakeholders and review documents in Mandarin
Must be able to travel frequently
