This is an exciting opportunity to join a lean, high-performing legal team that supports strategic business operations across the region.
The Opportunity
As Legal Counsel for Asia Pacific, you will play a critical role in providing legal support and proactive risk management across a wide range of commercial activities. Working directly with cross-functional teams—particularly Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing—you will help guide the business in making smart, ethical decisions while ensuring compliance with local regulations, especially in food and consumer law.
The ideal candidate is a commercially astute, pragmatic legal advisor with strong expertise in commercial contracts, regulatory frameworks, and experience navigating complex food laws in Japan and South Korea. This is a dynamic role offering broad exposure, autonomy, and close collaboration with senior stakeholders in a growing and innovative organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Provide legal advice and support on a wide range of commercial and regulatory matters within the FMCG context, with a focus on Japan and South Korea.
Review, draft, and negotiate commercial contracts across the APAC region.
Act as a trusted business partner to regional functions including Sales, Marketing, and Supply Chain—supporting initiatives while managing legal and regulatory risks.
Monitor changes in food-related regulations across key markets and proactively advise the business on implications and required actions.
Work closely with external counsel to ensure robust legal guidance in jurisdictions with complex regulatory environments.
Participate in the development and implementation of legal policies, risk mitigation strategies, and compliance frameworks.
Support regional expansion efforts with practical, business-minded legal input.
About You
Legally qualified with 8–10 years’ PQE, ideally with a blend of top-tier law firm and in-house experience, preferably within the FMCG or related consumer goods sector.
Strong understanding of commercial contracts, food laws, and consumer protection regulations, particularly in Japan and South Korea.
Able to operate autonomously in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and provide clear, strategic legal advice.
Demonstrated ability to proactively engage with the business, pre-empt legal risks, and provide practical solutions.
Excellent stakeholder management, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Fluency in English is essential; knowledge of Korean and/or Japanese would be advantageous but not a must to effectively communicate with Korean and/or Japanese -speaking clients.
Why Join?
This is an exceptional opportunity to be part of a respected global business, where legal is viewed as a strategic partner. You’ll join a collaborative and agile legal team, with the scope to make a real impact across high-growth markets in Asia.
