Your Role
As part of our close-knit team, you will play a crucial role in fostering mutual trust and building personal relationships, which are integral to the Blue Water culture. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with our business units and Global Tender Team to prepare, review, and negotiate tenders, contracts, and support commercial colleagues in customer negotiations.
  • Reviewing and negotiating various agreements.
  • Drafting contract templates and terms and conditions.
  • Advise and assist our business units in risk assessments and alignment with internal mandates and policies
  • Acting as the in-house point of contact for litigation matters, liaising with external counsel, and representing the organization in legal proceedings before courts, government agencies, or other authorities.
  • Advising business units on a wide range of legal matters, from quick phone consultations to long-term strategic projects.
  • Assisting in M&A activities and expansion into new global markets and locations, including ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including arbitration laws and regulations.
  • Cooperating with our compliance functions to ensure the application of group policies, including arbitration policies.

Your Background
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • You may be a qualified lawyer with an active bar admission but may also have another relevant legal background and experience in contract review, negotiation, administration, and management of a variety of contracts, preferably in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • You have a strong understanding of contract law and legal terminology in the APAC region, and a demonstrated appreciation for the value and importance of corporate governance and company secretarial responsibilities.
  • Minimum three to five years of post-qualification experience, ideally gained from a law firm or in-house function.
  • Experience within shipping, oil and gas, renewables, or large-scale projects is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of and experience with English law and/or other common law jurisdictions is a plus.
  • If you have experience within shipping, oil and gas, renewables and/or large-scale projects it will be a particular advantage.
  • You should have experience and familiarity with legal practices and arbitration laws and regulations in other APAC countries.

  • Motivation for continuous development and a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to manage diverse stakeholders across functions and cultures.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, potentially up to approximately 20-30 days annually.
  • A natural inclination for social interaction and a sense of humor.
  • Proficiency in English at a full professional level; language skills in Mandarin are advantageous but not required
