Legal Counsel

Responsibilities

1. Monitor and interpret the legislative environment in which the business operates to ensure the business understands and meets its legal obligations as laid out in statutes and regulations.

2. Draft, negotiate and advise on issues relating to commercial contracts e.g. supply contracts, sales contracts, purchase orders, research collaboration contracts, joint development contracts, confidentiality agreements, technology grants/funding, loan agreements, investment contracts, employment contracts.

3. Participate in legal due diligence and business integration in connection with strategic initiatives including global expansion plans.

4. Maintain a thorough understanding of regulatory issues and the regulatory framework in which the business operates and take responsibility for the development of informed solutions enabling the business to respond to and deal with regulatory constraints.

5. Assist with corporate secretarial matters including maintaining the company statutory registers and records, providing comprehensive legal and administrative support to the board and ensuring the company meets all its legal obligations.

6. Contribute to the development and execution of the organization's legal functional strategy.

7. Manage and mitigate legal risks by designing and implementing company policies, operating procedures, guidelines, and documentation templates.

8. Participate in litigation/enforcement actions instituted by or against the business.

9. Identify new initiatives and proposals in line with the business strategy and values to ensure legal operates at the heart of the business and as effective risk managers and business partners.

Qualifications

1. Possess a law degree from any recognized institution.

2. Admitted as an advocate and solicitor in Singapore or qualified in another Commonwealth jurisdiction, with a minimum of 3 to 4 years of post-qualification experience.

3. Non-practitioners with relevant experience may be considered.

4. Lawyers/legal practitioners with an interest in renewable energy are encouraged to apply.

5. Familiarity with legal nuances in US/APAC/EMEA.

6. Possess strong business acumen.

7. Be versatile, able to think and navigate quickly, and possess a strong analytical mind to focus on core issues.

8. Able to work collaboratively across multiple functions, organizations, and with a diverse group of colleagues and management.

9. Excellent organizational skills with an eye for detail.

10. Think out-of-the-box with strong analytical and reasoning skills.

11. A good team player with a positive working attitude and willingness to learn is essential.

12. Good communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
