Job summary

Zouk Singapore is seeking a Legal Counsel to oversee all legal matters within the Group. This role includes providing legal advice, managing contracts, and intellectual property, along with acting as the Group’s Data Protection Officer. Candidates must have 5+ years of relevant experience and be admitted to the Singapore Bar.

Qualifications

  • Must be admitted to the Singapore Bar.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience (5+ PQE), 2 as in-house counsel.
  • Experience in commercial contracts, M&A, franchising, and licensing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice on regulatory compliance and manage licenses.
  • Draft, review, and manage contracts.
  • Manage the Group’s Intellectual Property portfolio.

Job description

The Legal Counsel is responsible for overseeing all legal matters within Zouk Group and acts as an advisor to protect the organisation’s interests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide advice on regulatory compliance and manage the various licenses held by the Group.

  • Develop and implement effective risk mitigation strategies across the Group’s operations.

  • Oversee and coordinate with external lawyers to manage complex legal matters.

  • Manage the Group’s Intellectual Property portfolio, including registering, renewing trade marks and enforcement if necessary.

  • Draft, review, and manage contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure smooth day-to-day operations

  • Provide advice on employment related matters

  • Provide advice on mergers and acquisitions

  • Provide advice on the Group’s franchising and licensing businesses

  • Manage litigation if necessary

  • To act as the Group’s Data Protection Officer

  • Providing guidance and training to business units to understand legal risks

  • Managing corporate secretarial service providers

  • Other ad-hoc duties

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Candidates must be admitted to the Singapore Bar

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience (5+ PQE), 2 of which should be spent as in-house counsel

  • Skilled in corporate and commercial law

  • Experience in commercial contracts, M&A, corporate law, franchising and licensing, intellectual property law, employment law

  • Familiarity with laws of the US, Japan, and the APAC region is a plus

  • Familiarity with the F&B, nightlife and entertainment industry is a plus

  • Data Protection Certification is a plus
