Job summary

DP World in Singapore is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our Legal team. You will partner with senior business leaders across the organisation, advising on major customer contracts, M&A, joint ventures, post‑acquisition integration and various business and legal matters.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor of Laws, qualification as a common law lawyer and a current practising certificate.
• At least 7 years' post‑qualification experience in private practice, in‑house, or both.
• Strong experience in corporate and general commercial law, including M&A, joint ventures, projects and commercial contracts.
• Extensive experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements.

• Provide commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of matters, including commercial contracts, M&A, joint ventures and projects.
• Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of a wide variety of commercial agreements.
• Provide practical legal advice enabling informed business decisions while managing legal risk.
• Support significant customer contracts, strategic projects, post‑acquisition integration and day‑to‑day operations.
• Advise on disputes, litigation, cargo claims, employment disputes, competition matters and regulatory issues as needed.
• Identify and help manage legal risks across the business.
• Support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, licences and permits.
• Manage external counsel and legal budgets to deliver timely, high‑quality support.

We are looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our Legal team in Singapore. Reporting to the Vice President, General Counsel, APAC, you'll partner with senior business leaders across the organisation, particularly in Greater China. You'll advise on commercially significant matters, including major customer contracts, M&A, joint ventures, post‑acquisition integration and a broad range of business and legal matters.

This role is ideal for an experienced lawyer who enjoys working at the heart of the business, tackling diverse legal challenges and partnering with senior stakeholders to deliver practical legal solutions that support informed business decisions.

Key Accountabilities

• Provide commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of matters, including commercial contracts, M&A, joint ventures and projects.
• Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of a wide variety of commercial agreements.
• Provide practical legal advice that enables informed and pragmatic business decisions while managing legal risk.
• Support significant customer contracts, strategic projects, post‑acquisition integration activities and day‑to‑day business operations.
• Advise on disputes, litigation, cargo claims, employment disputes, competition matters and regulatory issues where required.
• Identify, assess and help manage legal risks across the business.
• Support compliance with applicable laws, regulations, licences and permits.
• Manage external legal counsel and legal budgets to deliver timely, high‑quality legal support.

Key Requirements

• A Bachelor of Laws, qualification as a common law lawyer and a current practising certificate.
• At least 7 years' post‑qualification experience gained in private practice, in‑house, or a combination of both.
• Strong experience in corporate and general commercial law, including M&A, joint ventures, projects and commercial contracts.
• Extensive experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements.
• Experience leading complex legal and commercial matters and providing strategic legal advice.
• Experience working with regulatory bodies and interpreting legislation and regulatory policy.
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance legal and commercial considerations to deliver practical business solutions.
• Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• The ability to work independently, influence stakeholders and build strong working relationships across the business.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin, including the ability to advise on and draft contracts in Mandarin.
• Experience in the shipping, logistics, transport, construction or infrastructure sectors will be an advantage.
