What it's about

We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join the Investment Legal team at the Partners Group in Singapore. Candidates should have experience with advising or working on corporate transactions, projects and investments. The Investment Legal team (INLE) provides legal advice and transaction expertise to Partners Group’s investment teams worldwide while protecting the interests and reputation of Partners Group. Members of INLE have a wide range of additional responsibilities across the firm. The role of INLE is dynamic and continues to evolve as Partners Group further develops its businesses in response to the requirements of its clients.

Responsibilities:
• Leading the creation, development and undertaking of INLE's legal operations and its framework. INLE requires a strong operational backbone to enable the team to function and complete its in-house task portfolio, e.g.

• by ensuring that key INLE documentation such as legal handbooks, investment processes and procedures are maintained;
• liaising with internal teams and external service providers to ensure that INLE processes and procedures are being followed and providing guidance to assist with this;
• driving and implementing investment operations projects as needed; and
• gaining a working knowledge of Partners Group’s business and investment process with the view to assist with the completion of various ancillary in-house matters to enable management of Partners Group's portfolio such as investment obligations tracking, confidentiality restrictions enforcement, reviewing investment-related fund obligations and audit completion.

The role requires taking responsibility and, where appropriate, ownership of these tasks including working with various other internal and external teams to ensure deliverables are completed and stakeholders are appropriately managed.
• Managing and responding to ad hoc APAC investment-related legal inquiries and, serving as a legal advisor to the investment teams on PG positions and processes.
• In addition, the role offers the possibility of acting as legal advisor to the investment committees and investment teams on complex transactional matters where appropriate depending on candidate experience and within INLE's operating framework. INLE acts as an internal legal advisor on high risk and Partners Group-specific matters. The judgment and experience of INLE members are required to identify, consider and help mitigate legal and reputational risks, including through conflicts analysis. INLE members are frequently asked to provide advice and answer questions or to become involved in resolving issues, often in difficult situations involving time pressure and transaction sensitivity. INLE does not replace external counsel on transactions, but manages the relationship with Partners Group’s panel law firms.

What we expect

• Qualified attorney with 4 – 6 years PQE
• Relevant post-qualification experience either with a reputable law firm and/or as in-house counsel with an investment house
• Candidates will need to demonstrate experience in private M&A / private equity transactions and related law and practice
