Location: Tanjong Pagar
Responsibilities
Provide legal advice on all aspects of commodities trading, including contract drafting, negotiation, and risk assessment.
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, sanctions, and local laws in various jurisdictions.
Handle and resolve legal disputes, including litigation, arbitration, and mediation related to commodities trade transactions.
Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including sales contracts, purchase agreements, shipping documents, and financial instruments (e.g., Letters of Credit).
Advise on customs regulations, tariffs, and import/export restrictions.
Work closely with internal stakeholders such as sales, finance, and operations teams to mitigate legal risks.
Monitor and interpret changes in trade laws, regulations, and industry trends that may impact the business.
Support due diligence efforts for mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures in the commodities trading sector.
Liaise with external law firms and regulatory bodies as needed.
Requirements
Bachelor or Master’s Degree in Law.
3 to 7 years of related experience in legal advisory roles, preferably in commodities trading or related industries.
Strong understanding of international trade laws, contracts, and dispute resolution mechanisms.
Experience dealing with maritime law, shipping disputes, and trade finance instruments is an advantage.
Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts and resolve trade-related disputes.
Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural, and dynamic business environment.
Called to Bar will be a huge advantage.
