Job summary

Singapore Polytechnic invites applications for a full-time academic position focusing on Technical Analysis and Banking/Finance areas. The appointee will teach PET and CET students, develop and review curriculum, and involve in consultancy and applied research projects with industry partners.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience across financial institutions such as banks, brokerages, and/or insurance companies.
  • Strong passion for mentoring students and genuine care for their development.
  • Proven ability to engage with industry on Banking/Finance/Analytics/Fintech consultancy projects.
  • Relevant qualifications in Banking/Finance/Analytics/IT or equivalents such as MFAS/CACS/CFA/CAIA are advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials, and facilitate learning for PET and CET students.
  • Review and develop curriculum to keep it current and improve student performance and employability.
  • Enhance learning through activities like competitions, projects, internships, and overseas programmes/community service.
  • Identify new partnership opportunities, build industry partnerships, and participate in consultancy projects.
  • Collaborate with staff and industry to offer applied projects and consultancy opportunities.
  • Support IBF/SkillsFuture initiatives in enhanced internship and CET programmes.
  • Handle administrative work related to teaching.

The job of an academic is challenging and meaningful. Not only will he/she have both the knowledge and working experience, he/she must also possess a passion for working with youths, nurturing them, and moulding their characters. There will be opportunities to develop the curriculum, introduce new modules/courses as well as be involved in consultancy and other applied research projects. Administrative work related to teaching and School/Institutional strategic initiatives will be an important part of the job too. Successful candidates will be expected to have a growth mind-set, and be adaptable to the ever-changing industry landscape, both in the domain industry as well as the education sector. He/she is also expected to demonstrate resourcefulness and innovative with forward-looking initiatives as well as good communication skills. This is for a full-time role.

The appointee must be competent to teach in areas of Technical Analysis, as well as the following Banking and Finance related areas:

What you will be working on:
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct lessons, create teaching and assessment materials, and facilitate learning for both Pre-Employment Training (PET) and Continuing Education and Training (CET) students.
  • Keep abreast of current developments and trends in the areas mentioned above to develop and maintain relevant and up-to-date teaching curriculum. This includes review of existing curriculum with a view to making recommendations on areas of improvements that would enhance students’ performance, learning & employability.
  • Enhance students’ learning through other activities such as training students for competitions, supervising projects, and internships, and leading them on overseas learning programme/community service.
  • Identify new partnership opportunities, building industry partnerships, and cultivating industry relationships. Participate in consultancy projects with industry partners to support the transformation of the industry.
  • Collaborate with other staff as well as industry to offer meaningful applied industry projects and consultancy projects.
  • Support IBF / SkillsFuture initiatives in the implementation of Enhanced Internship Programmes and CET programmes.
  • Handle administrative work relating to teaching.
What we are looking for:
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of relevant working experience across financial institutions such as banks, brokerages, and/or insurance companies. Part-time experience in education would be an added advantage.
  • Strong passion in mentoring students and show genuine concern for their development.
  • A strong team player with good communication skills
  • Proven ability to engage with the industry on Banking/Finance/Analytics/Fintech consultancy projects.
  • Relevant qualifications in Banking/Finance/Analytics/IT or equivalent such as MFAS/CACS/CFA/CAIA would be an added advantage.

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract in the first instance.
