What the role is

Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in the Software & Immersive Media Group within the School of Engineering. Responsibilities include developing and delivering training on software development, with a focus on Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Business Process Automation (BPA), low-code platforms, and data centre technologies. This training is provided to both pre-employment and adult learners. The position also requires leading new initiatives, fostering industry collaborations, and developing real-world projects in these fields.

What you will be working on

  • Develop and deliver engaging and comprehensive training curricula on software development, focusing on Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Business Process Automation (BPA), low-code platforms, and data centre technologies for both pre-employment and adult learners.
  • Lead and spearhead new initiatives in software development, fostering industry collaborations and developing real-world projects that bridge academic learning with practical application in the above domains.
  • Mentor and guide pre-employment learners through their educational journey, helping them cultivate both technical proficiency and soft skills.
  • Continuously assess and enhance the learning experience by incorporating the latest trends and innovations.

What we are looking for

  • Strong understanding of RPA and BPA concepts, tools, and platforms (e.g., UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, Power Automate).
  • Proficient in low-code development platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Apps, Mendix, OutSystems, Appian) with experience building applications and automating business processes.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing, data centre technologies, and application deployment, including familiarity with cloud services like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, and their integration with automation solutions.
  • Passion for teaching, with an interest in sharing knowledge.
  • Strong interest in project development, applied research and staying up to date with innovations.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Automation, or related fields, along with substantial hands-on work experience in the field.
