Job description
Lecturer/ Senior Lecturer in Philosophy (Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences)

The Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) cluster at the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) invites applications for a full-time, teaching-track faculty position in Philosophy. Appointments will be made on an initial three-year contract, renewable subject to review.

We are seeking an analytic philosopher with demonstrated expertise in epistemology, ethics, and/or the philosophy of action and with a research interest in the philosophical dimensions of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and related technologies.

The successful candidate will:

  • Teach in our undergraduate humanities core, design electives in their area of specialisation, and contribute to new degree programmes.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary initiatives, in particular relating to Design and AI, through collaboration with colleagues in engineering, architecture, computer science, and design.
  • Mentor students, including those working on capstone projects that connect humanistic inquiry with technological innovation.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Philosophy (or closely related field). They should have an excellent record of effective teaching at the university level. We especially seek creative scholars with the potential to develop new directions in interdisciplinary teaching and who are interested in collaborating with scientists and technologists. Experience in digital humanities or fostering collaborations with industry or the public sector will also be considered an advantage.
