Job description

Position Summary:
The Lecturer in MA Education will deliver high-quality teaching, support student learning, and contribute to curriculum development at the postgraduate level. The role requires subject-matter expertise, a commitment to inclusive and reflective teaching practices, and active collaboration with colleagues to ensure excellence in academic delivery and student outcomes.

2) Key Responsibilities:

Teaching and Learning

i. Deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and seminars aligned with course objectives, lesson plans, and desired learning outcomes.

ii. Facilitate interactive, student-centered learning environments that stimulate intellectual curiosity and critical thinking.

iii. Design, plan, and deliver lessons that are well-structured and developmentally appropriate, incorporating clear learning objectives and varied instructional strategies.

iv. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all students, including those with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), and high-ability learners.

v. Utilize data from formative and summative assessments to inform lesson planning and personalize learning experiences.

vi. Promote high standards of literacy, academic writing, and oral communication, including the correct use of academic English at Master’s degree level.

vii. Set meaningful and challenging academic targets for students, building on prior achievement.

viii. Assign purposeful homework to reinforce and extend learning beyond the classroom.

3) Curriculum Development

i. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of course materials, schemes of work, and assessments.

ii. Collaborate with course leaders and academic colleagues to ensure alignment of curriculum content, moderation standards, and assessment procedures.

iii. Integrate transdisciplinary skills and interdisciplinary connections into curriculum design where relevant.

4) Assessment and Feedback

i. Use a variety of assessment methods to monitor student progress and inform teaching.

ii. Provide timely and constructive feedback—both verbal and written—to guide student reflection, growth, and goal-setting.

iii. Analyze student data to identify learning gaps, address misconceptions, and inform targeted interventions.

iv. Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and performance.

5) Classroom Management and Environment

i. Maintain a well-organized, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that supports academic and personal growth.

ii. Utilize diverse grouping strategies to foster collaboration, independent learning, and peer engagement.

iii. Act as a facilitator of learning, encouraging students to construct knowledge through inquiry and critical dialogue.

6) Collaboration and Professional Conduct

a. Collaborate professionally and collegially with colleagues, adhering to agreed team norms and institutional expectations.

b. Participate in academic meetings, planning sessions, and professional development activities.

c. Undertake any additional duties reasonably assigned by the School Management by HOS and DOS.

Job Requirements:

Candidate should have Education, teaching and Learning related Degree, master’s degree, and PhD preferred in specializing in any of the subjects listed above:

i. ACTA / ACLP / SDALT/GCTLHE/PGCHE teaching qualification would be an added advantage.

ii. At least 3 - 5 Years of working experience in the related field is required.

iii. Strong passion for teaching.

iv. Ability to share industry experience.

v. Must be current with learning methods and strategies.

vi. Must be student oriented.

vii. Excellent presentation and communication skills.

viii. Have good organizing & planning skills, high work standards, and able to adapt to changes.

ix. Able to problem solve, have high-stress tolerance & good decision-making skills.
