The School of Humanities invites outstanding academics to apply for a faculty position at the rank of Lecturer.

The Centre for Modern Languages in SoH currently offers electives in 16 modern languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Malay, Russian, Singapore Sign Language, Spanish, Thai, and Vietnamese). The Centre emphasizes enhancing intercultural knowledge and skills alongside linguistic competence. We seek an experienced lecturer capable of teaching introductory to advanced Spanish courses to tertiary students. Knowledge of current trends in second/foreign language teaching methodologies is preferred. Candidates should have a proven track record in teaching, curriculum design, multimedia course materials development, and familiarity with new technologies in language instruction. The position is offered on a three-year renewable contract basis.

Selection Criteria:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Spanish as a foreign/second language, Spanish Linguistics, or Spanish Studies.
  • Native proficiency in written and spoken Spanish to teach Asian adult students.
  • Experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching Spanish, preferably at the tertiary level.
  • Experience in developing Spanish language materials, including e-learning resources.
  • Familiarity with multimedia and computer-based instructional technologies.
  • Ability to coordinate large courses.
  • Proficiency in English (CEFR C1) for effective communication with students.
