Job summary

sggovterp is seeking a dedicated Learning Support Specialist to provide holistic assistance to ITE students with special educational needs in a team setting, collaborating with students, families and college staff to support academic, internship and social-emotional development.

You will coordinate learning needs assessments, exam accommodations, develop learning plans with guardians and agencies, and deliver outreach to staff on SEN strategies.

Qualifications

• Preferably with at least 2 years of supporting students with SEN.
• Credentials in a relevant discipline (e.g. special education) are advantageous.
• Proficient in office applications and other software.

Responsibilities

• Connect with and assess students' learning needs.
• Facilitate exam accommodations and assistive device arrangements.
• Collaborate with parents/guardians, college staff and agencies to develop learning plans and social-emotional strategies.
• Provide consultation and outreach on SEN strategies and interventions to staff.
• Refer students to appropriate help agencies and internship vendors.
• Document, track, monitor and report cases; manage procurements.
• Implement psycho-social-educational programmes and CCA.

[What the role is]

You will provide holistic learning support to ITE students with special educational needs in a team, working with students, their families, relevant ITE stakeholders such as college academic staff and external agencies. This support will enable students to manage their academic journey, internship and improve their social-emotional competencies.

[What you will be working on]

• Connecting with and working with students on their learning needs assessment.
• Facilitating exam accommodation and assistive device arrangements.
• Working with parents/guardians, college academic staff, relevant agencies to develop and implement learning plans, social emotional coping strategies during the various phases of a student's journey in the course and internship.
• Providing consultation and outreach programmes to college academic staff on special educational needs, teaching strategies and other interventions.
• Referring students to relevant help agencies and internship support vendors.
• Documenting, tracking, monitoring, reporting cases and processing procurements.
• Implementing psycho-social-educational programmes and CCA
