Learning Support Educator

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities

1. Work with therapists, pediatricians, psychologists, teachers, parents, and principals to discuss children’s learning needs and profile learning needs of children to be referred.
2. Support teachers in assisting children with learning and developmental needs within the classroom setting.
3. Screen children referred for learning and developmental issues by teachers in an ordinary preschool setting.
4. Present screening outcomes to the clinical team during case filter meetings.
5. Design Individualized Education Plans (IEP) and provide packages to children with mild developmental needs.
6. Follow through with IEP goals after the therapist team has completed their therapy.
7. Provide in-class support and ensure that therapy goals are embedded into the classroom curriculum as much as possible.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

1. Possess a Specialist Diploma in Early Childhood Learning Support.
2. 3-5 years of early childhood teaching experience (additional experience in EIPIC or Special Education setting is an advantage).
3. Have a significant interest in mainstream inclusion and implementation of early intervention strategies.
4. Training in SPED or early intervention methodologies is an added advantage.
5. Passionate about teaching preschoolers in different contexts and situations with the view to enhance and motivate their interest to learn.
6. Good communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
7. Must have initiative and the ability to work independently while being a good team player.
8. An organized and systematic worker.
