Job summary

PEAK OCEAN PTE. LTD. in Shanghai seeks a Lead Structural Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and integrity management of hull structures, topsides modules, and equipment foundations for FPSO/FSO projects across the APAC region.

You will perform FEA using ANSYS/SACS/ABAQUS, review reports and design dossiers, and provide fabrication support with yards in APAC/China while ensuring compliance with DNV, ABS, and API RP 2A codes. Relocation to China is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Structural, Civil, Marine Engineering or Naval Architecture.
• 5+ years in offshore oil and gas structural engineering (FPSO/FSO, platforms) incl. fabrication support.
• Proficiency in FEA tools (ANSYS, SACS, ABAQUS) and 3D modeling (AutoCAD, PDMS, AVEVA Marine).
• Knowledge of DNV, ABS, and API RP 2A codes.
• Must relocate on a residential basis in China.

Responsibilities

• Perform FEA (fatigue, yielding, ultimate strength) for hull structures, topsides, and foundations.
• Produce and review engineering reports, specifications, and design dossiers for approvals.
• Provide technical support to APAC/China yards, review vendor data, attend FATs, resolve fabrication issues on-site.
• Contribute to structural integrity assessments, modifications, and vessel life-extension studies.
• Maintain workplace safety and regulatory compliance; report hazards and quality issues.

Role Overview

The Lead Structural Engineer leads the design, analysis, and integrity management of hull structures, topsides modules, and marine equipment foundations for FPSO/FSO conversion and newbuild projects across the Asia-Pacific region, with a primary focus on detailed engineering and fabrication support in Shanghai.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform FEA (fatigue, yielding, ultimate strength) for primary/secondary hull structures, topsides support, and equipment foundations. Conduct lifting, transportation, and structural calculations to AISC, API, Eurocode, DNV, and ABS standards.
• Produce and review engineering reports, specifications, and design dossiers to secure DNV, ABS, IMO, and MODU Code approvals.
• Provide technical support to APAC/China yards, review vendor data, attend FATs, and resolve fabrication/integration issues on-site.
• Contribute to structural integrity assessments (SMA/SIA), modifications, and vessel life-extension studies.
• Maintain workplace safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and report hazards and quality issues.
