Job summary

Grab For Business is building backend services powering enterprise customers and employees to access Grab offerings. You will work with experienced engineers to deliver robust APIs used by mobile and web apps, reporting to an engineering manager based in Singapore and working onsite in Singapore.

The role emphasizes designing scalable, reliable services, translating product requirements into technical solutions, and delivering high-quality code via testing, monitoring, and reviews.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of software development experience delivering solutions across teams.
• Proficiency in Go and writing idiomatic, testable code.
• Hands-on backend microservices experience; familiar with HTTP/gRPC, MySQL and Redis.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes, Istio, and observability tools (DataDog, Kibana, Grafana).
• Understanding of version control and CI/CD workflows (Git, GitLab).

Responsibilities

• Lead design and operation of scalable backend services and platform components.
• Convert product requirements into technical solutions while driving architectural trade-offs.
• Oversee delivery of high-quality code with testing, performance, observability, and code reviews.
• Collaborate with product, business, mobile, web, data, and infra teams to solve end-to-end challenges.
• Improve service reliability through monitoring, health fixes, incident response, and root cause analysis.
• Participate in on-call rotation and take ownership during production incidents.
• Guide engineers through technical coaching, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Identify and guide ongoing improvements in engineering processes and system health.

Grab For Business team is building the solutions used by enterprise customers and employees to access Grab offerings such as ride hailing, food deliveries, gift cards and more. We are a team built with transparent and stay informed about relevant technology trends and developments, striving for building the products that our users love to use everyday. In next year, we have goals to expand our customer segments, offer richer user experience and contribute more to the success of Grab.

Get to Know the Role

You will work with other experienced engineers on the team to develop our backend services, ensure the robustness and of the system which provides APIs used by several mobile and web app. You will be reporting to an engineering manager who is based in Singapore. You will work onsite in Singapore.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

• Lead the design, and operation of scalable, maintainable, and reliable backend services and platform components.
• Convert product and requirements into technical solutions while driving design discussions and architectural trade-offs.
• Oversee the delivery of high-quality code by maintaining standards in testing, performance, observability, and rigorous code reviews.
• Partner with product, business, mobile, web, data, and infrastructure teams to solve end-to-end-user and system challenges.
• Improve service reliability through monitoring, proactive system health fixes, incident response, and root cause analysis.
• Participate in the team's on-call rotation and take active ownership during production incidents.
• Guide engineers through technical coaching, design reviews, and knowledge sharing.
• Identify and guide ongoing improvements in engineering processes, developer productivity, and overall system health.

Qualifications

What Essential Skills You Will Need

• You have a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• You have 7+ years of software development experience and a history of delivering successful solutions across teams.
• You have proficiency in Go. You write idiomatic, testable, and maintainable code.
• You have hands-on experience writing and operating backend microservices. You are familiar with HTTP/gRPC, relational databases (MySQL) and NoSQL databases (Redis). You have a working knowledge of container orchestration (Kubernetes), service mesh (Istio), and observability (DataDog, Kibana, Grafana).
• You understand how developers use version control and CI/CD to collaborate on a codebase and ship software (Git, GitLab).
