Agoda, based in Singapore, is seeking a Backend Engineer to work on mission-critical systems that serve millions of users daily. You will join a Platform team focused on innovation, AI-powered customer experiences, and scalable architectures.

The role emphasizes leadership in technical direction, strong Java/Scala coding, and robust CI/CD practices to ensure high-quality software delivery. Visa sponsorship is not provided; Singapore work authorization is required.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of experience developing performance-critical applications in a production environment using Scala or Java.
• Strong RDBMS knowledge (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or other).
• Ability to direct significant company-wide projects and set technical vision.
• Good command of the English language.
• Deeply involved in making architectural decisions, setting the standard and direction for the team.
• Implement advanced CI/CD pipelines and robust testing strategies to ensure seamless integration, deployment, and high code quality.
• Knowledge in NoSQL, queueing systems (Kafka, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, MSMQ), and Play framework.
• Passion for software development and continuous improvement of your knowledge and skills.
