Job description

We are seeking a passionate, dedicated, and experienced Lead Teacher to join our preschool team in the east. The Lead Teacher will be responsible for creating an interactive, fun, and safe learning environment for young children. Additionally, the Lead Teacher will assist the Principal with administrative and operational tasks to ensure the smooth running of the preschool. You will play a key role in implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum, observing the individual growth of each child, and collaborating with a team of educators to create a harmonious learning atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver a child-centered, engaging, and balanced curriculum
  • Integrate play-inspired learning, hands-on activities, and structured lessons to stimulate children's cognitive, physical, and social development.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that is conducive to learning and exploration.
  • Model positive behavior and reinforce good practices, promoting respect, kindness, and empathy among children.
  • Ensure that materials and resources are appropriate, safe, and accessible for all children.
  • Observe and assess children’s development on an ongoing basis, documenting their progress in key areas such as language, motor skills, and social interactions.
  • Create individualized plans for children who may need extra support or enrichment, including collaborating with external specialists when necessary.
  • Lead family engagement events, workshops, and open days to foster a strong home-school partnership.
  • Address any parent concerns in a professional and empathetic manner, offering constructive feedback and solutions.
  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to create a cohesive and supportive team environment.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to teachers in ensuring they understand and adhere to classroom routines and teaching strategies.
  • Participate actively in staff meetings, sharing insights, ideas, and solutions for continuous improvement in the learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, including workshops, conferences, and seminars, to stay up-to-date with the latest trends and research in early childhood education.
  • Provide administrative support to the Principal in managing the day-to-day operations of the preschool.
  • Assist in planning and implementing school events, parent-teacher meetings, and professional development sessions.
  • Help ensure that preschool policies and procedures are followed by all staff members.
  • Work with the Principal to maintain and update the preschool’s records, including student progress, assessments, and other documentation.
  • Assist in handling parent concerns and queries, and act as a liaison between parents and the Principal when needed.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of the preschool’s strategic goals and vision.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education - Teaching (DECCE - T)
  • Advanced Diploma in Early Childhood Centre Leqadership (ADECL)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. (Preferred)
  • A recognized teaching certification (e.g., ACEY, NIEC Certification).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a lead teacher in a preschool setting
  • Familiarity with a variety of teaching methods and learning tools.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and colleagues in a diverse, multicultural environment.
