Job Description for OCIS Sustainability and Data Analytics Lead
This position is for the Office of Campus Infrastructure and Services (OCIS) and involves leading sustainability initiatives, data analytics, and digital transformation projects to support SMU's vision.
- Drive OCIS initiatives and sustainability projects.
- Lead, develop, and conclude the OCIS Sustainability Strategy 2030, including setting KPIs and trackers.
- Identify new projects supporting sustainability and digital transformation.
- Manage projects, monitor progress, and coordinate stakeholders to ensure deliverables are met.
- Analyze space-related data to improve operational policies and support facilities management data needs, including designing models and dashboards.
- Review existing systems and data, identifying improvement opportunities.
- Support OCIS units with sustainability requirements.
- Conduct market research, coordinate with stakeholders, prepare proposals, and champion change management in sustainability adoption.
- Identify funding opportunities, prepare documentation, oversee reporting, and manage project implementation.
- Develop a carbon management plan and identify benchmarks for improvements.
- Potentially serve on the Sustainability Committee, providing inputs and progress reports.
- Lead data analytics efforts, ensuring data integrity, developing reporting processes, and creating dashboards.
- Articulate and present findings to leadership and external parties.
Policy Development & External Engagement
- Update and initiate OCIS policies as needed.
- Share SMU sustainability initiatives externally.
Digital Transformation Initiatives
- Coordinate OCIS's digital transformation efforts.
- Identify opportunities for digital, process, and green initiatives within SMU.
- Drive digital transformation using IoT solutions and data insights for better decision-making.

Qualifications
- Degree in Real Estate, Engineering, or Sustainability.
- Skills in data analytics and change management.
- 15+ years relevant experience in construction, building management, or sustainability.
- 5-8 years experience in sustainability portfolio management.
- Knowledge of digital transformation, innovation, and campus operations.
- Global exposure to sustainability and digitalization trends.
- Experience working with agencies for funding and productivity initiatives.
- Familiarity with Green Mark, NEZEB, SLEB regulations.
- Basic knowledge of real estate, facilities management, project management, and related engineering principles.
- Hands-on experience with Power BI, Excel macros, and basic Python.
- Experience managing stakeholder groups and leading teams.
- Strong strategic planning, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, multitask, and prioritize.
- Experience in policy development and process improvement.
- Creative thinking to identify opportunities for enhancement.
