Job description

Responsibilities:

  • Study the contract and check for compliance in project design, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Review mechanical design documents, commissioning documents, and method statements, submitting comments within the agreed turnaround time as per contract.
  • Liaise with Owner's engineer and EPC consortium regarding contractual, technical, and quality-related issues.
  • Study the legal requirements of the country and check for applicability and implementation in the design and execution of the project in the respective discipline.
  • Review Quality procedures ITP/FQP/MQP for all mechanical activities, ensuring project execution as per the approved/finalized documents.
  • Ensure HSE compliance as per regulatory authorities during execution.
  • Develop new methods and procedures for project activities, including supervision of contractor’s project execution processes.
  • Identify areas for value engineering opportunities and discuss with EPC for implementation and project cost-saving measures.
  • Identify, determine feasibility, and quantify benefits of specific project improvements (cost-benefit analysis).
  • Liaise with other trades to seek project data to finalize designs and construction.
  • Prepare and submit periodic work plans and work progress reports to management.
  • Measure work done on a monthly basis, check, and certify invoices submitted by EPC Consortium related to Mechanical works.
  • Constantly monitor and regularly report site performance, including reviewing contractors' procedures and helping develop project procedures for the owner’s team.
  • Monitor Contractor’s field activities, including preparation and safe conduct.
  • Manage interfacing works with mechanical and electrical works and other works at site to ensure smooth interaction and progress.
  • Advise company senior management on work challenges, unusual risks, and/or threats to project success, including likely defects.
  • Participate in the site budgeting process as needed.
  • Participate in the project risk assessment process as needed.
  • Prepare and assist Project Director in carrying out necessary correspondence with Owners Engineer and EPC consortium related to site mechanical activities for time delays, quality-related issues, contractual and technical deviations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education, preferably in power generation.
  • At least 9 to 12 years of relevant experience, preferably in Combined Cycle power plant projects and BOP Mechanical systems.
  • Experience in advanced class GT either in a single shaft or two shaft mode in contract or project management is beneficial.
  • Knowledge and experience with international codes of practice and familiarity with local SS codes of practice are beneficial.
  • Understanding of power generation project procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance issues related to power generation projects.
  • Confident in abilities with a proven track record.
  • Ability to communicate well with team members and possess excellent team-building skills.
