Job Summary:The Lead Instrumentation & Control (I&C) Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing all I&C engineering activities for FPSO projects from FEED through detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up. The role ensures compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and client requirements while delivering safe, fit-for-purpose, and cost-effective designs.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the I&C engineering scope for FPSO projects, including conceptual, FEED, and detailed engineering phases.
- Develop, review, and approve I&C deliverables: instrument index, data sheets, loop diagrams, I/O lists, control system architecture, instrument layouts, and cable routing.
- Oversee the development and integration of control and safety systems (DCS, ESD, F&G, PLCs).
- Coordinate with other disciplines (process, electrical, mechanical, piping, etc.) to ensure integrated and optimized design.
- Prepare technical specifications and perform vendor technical bid evaluations for instruments and control systems.
- Manage interface with vendors and subcontractors to ensure technical requirements are met and deliveries are on schedule.
- Ensure designs comply with industry codes (IEC, ISA, API, etc.), classification society rules, and regulatory requirements.
- Support construction and commissioning teams with technical queries, redlining documents, and ensuring proper installation and functioning of systems.
- Participate in design reviews, HAZOP, SIL studies, FAT/SAT, and project audits.
- Provide mentoring and guidance to junior I&C engineers and designers.
Qualifications & Requirements:- Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, Control Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in I&C engineering, with at least 5 years in a lead role for offshore/FPSO projects.
- Solid knowledge of offshore instrumentation, control systems (DCS, ESD, F&G), and communication systems.
- Familiarity with international standards such as IEC, ISA, API, and ATEX/IECEx.
- Experience working with major EPC contractors and oil & gas clients.
- Proficient in engineering tools like SPI (INtools), AutoCAD, or similar.
- Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills.
- Willingness to travel for site support, FAT/SAT, or offshore commissioning as required.
