Job summary

Public Service Division in Singapore seeks an experienced Lead R&D Engineer to helm embedded control systems for industrial energy applications. You will lead architecture, design, and deployment across hardware, software, and control layers, working with industry partners on applied R&D and consultancy projects.

The role demands hands-on expertise, end-to-end system ownership from requirements to deployment, and collaboration across mechanical, electrical, and thermal teams to meet technology

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronic, or related engineering field with at least 5 years of industrial experience.
• Hands-on embedded control system development including PLC ladder logic and function block programming.
• Proficiency in C++, C#, or Python applied to industrial/embedded systems.
• Experience in sensor/actuator integration, control panels, and system commissioning.
• Familiarity with building systems, energy management, HVAC would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of embedded control systems for industrial and building energy applications.
• Architect control systems at component, sub-assembly, and system level, including controller selection and I/O design.
• Develop and implement control software using PLC platforms and high-level languages (C++, C#, Python).
• Integrate sensors, actuators, and field devices using Modbus and BACnet protocols.
• Define system requirements, design project scope, and prepare technical proposals for consultancy projects.
• Collaborate across mechanical, electrical, and thermal domains to deliver integrated solutions.
• Conduct applied R&D to translate new technologies according to CFES roadmap.
• Support commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation of deployed systems.
• Deliver training to industry partners through short courses or consultancy engagements.
