Job summary

A*STAR Research Entities (A*STAR) in SIMTech seeks a motivated research engineer to lead and support research and industry projects in Ceramic and Metal Powder Forming. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Material Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Chemistry Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in metal and/or ceramic forming related work.
• Strong expertise in powder forming processes and heat treatment techniques.
• Excellent hands-on skills in powder forming and characterisation methods.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform R&D on powder forming technologies (compression, slurry casting, injection moulding, extrusion, additive manufacturing).
• Design experiments and optimize heat treatment processes for debinding, sintering and densification.
• Implement SEM/EDX/XRD and mechanical testing for microstructure and property characterisation.
• Design and develop materials and processes for new powder forming technologies and applications.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, publications and patents to disseminate findings.
• Manage project timelines, budgets and deliverables; collaborate with industry and academia.
• Support in process equipment set-up, laboratory operations and inventory management.
• Provide mentorship and guide career development for team members.
• Ensure safety and quality standards in lab and pilot-scale operations.
