Job Description

We are looking for a Lead, Category Management (SGMY) to be based in foodpanda Singapore. This role will report to the Head, Category Management in the Q-commerce team. The Category Management team oversees the strategic planning, development, and execution of product categories within the foodpanda groceries business. You will wear many hats and meticulously plan to scale the Singapore pandamart business.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the ‘business owner’ across different allocated categories, possessing a complete understanding of internal and external variables that impact the foodpanda business.
  • Ownership of team OKRs including key metrics such as Topline, Margins, NMR, and shrinkage.
  • Develop and execute optimal category strategy, pricing, promotions, range, availability, and cost prices to expand both sales and margin.
  • Ensure foodpanda categories have the optimal selection and strategically competitive prices in the market through local and international sourcing.
  • Source and build a strong supplier base to negotiate terms, improve ment, secure supplier advertising spend, and ensure a reliable and operationally effective flow of goods.
  • Work to develop new sourcing and extended range to ensure high-quality, good-value goods are available to customers year-round.
  • Ensure progress on Private Label & Imports (for Grocery & Non-Food Categories).
  • Employ data-driven decision making to drive the category while working closely with marketing and supply chain to forecast demand and ensure consistent supply.
  • Partner with the supply chain team to manage inventory levels and wastage.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Supply Chain, Sales Operations, and Marketing to deliver strategic projects.
  • Conduct regular business reviews & JBPs with key AAA suppliers.
  • Deep dive into categories to understand best and worst practices and develop and execute short- and long-term strategies to drive category performance.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure OKRs are met.
  • Lead and develop the team to ensure excellence in execution, develop people skills, and support career development.

Qualifications

  • Around 8 years or more of experience in merchandising or buying and category management.
  • Knowledge of E-commerce is a plus.
  • Strong business judgment with a successful track record in negotiations and relationship management (both internal and external).
  • Ability to work autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Expertise in interpreting data and providing strategic recommendations.
  • Fluency in English (our corporate language) and strong communication skills.
  • Efficiency in using Google Workspace is a plus; mastery of Microsoft Office is preferred.
