Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking an accomplished senior base metals trader to lead the P&L of the base metals trading business. The role involves developing physical and paper trading strategies across copper, aluminium, zinc, lead, and nickel, and building global relationships with miners, smelters, producers, and counterparties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years in physical commodities trading with base metals exposure.
• Proven originations track record and profitable trading results.
• Strong network across producers, smelters, refiners, and trading houses.
• Solid understanding of LME pricing, hedging, and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the base metals trading business and P&L performance.
• Develop trading strategies across copper, aluminium, zinc, lead, nickel.
• Build relationships with miners, smelters, producers, and counterparties globally.
• Identify new trading opportunities and supply sources.
• Oversee contract negotiations and pricing structures.
• Monitor market fundamentals and price trends to generate ideas.
• Manage market, credit, operational, and counterparty risks.
