Job summary

D Duke-NUS Medical School is seeking an entrepreneurial researcher to advance AI-enabled pathogen genomics and outbreak analytics. You will lead cross-disciplinary projects, collaborate with public health partners and translate findings into practical surveillance tools.

The role emphasizes scientific leadership, mentorship and development of scalable analytics platforms, bridging AI, genomics and regional health security.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in AI, machine learning, computational biology, bioinformatics or related field.
• Senior Research Fellow: typically 5+ years postdoc or equivalent; Principal Research Scientist: 6+ years with leadership.
• Demonstrated expertise in AI/data science methods applied to genomics, public health or related domains.
• Strong skills in ML, scalable pipelines, cloud/HPC and collaboration with academic, health and tech partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead applied research at the interface of AI, pathogen genomics and outbreak preparedness.
• Design and evaluate AI-enabled methods for genomic analysis and outbreak decision support.
• Collaborate with Duke-NUS, SingHealth, national and regional partners across sectors.
• Contribute to grant proposals, research strategy and donor engagement.
• Publish high-quality outputs and ensure rigorous, ethical analytics workflows.
• Provide scientific leadership to researchers, data scientists and students.
• Support education and capacity development in AI and computational genomics.
