Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a Lab Test Engineer to develop and manage comprehensive test plans, evaluate product performance, and report findings. You will lead testing projects, liaise with customers, review samples for testing methods, and ensure adherence to safety and quality standards in a collaborative lab environment.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of four years in lab testing or related engineering fields, with strong communication and problem-solving

Responsibilities

• Develop, execute, and manage test plans per customer requirements and industry standards.
• Evaluate product performance, analyze test results, and prepare technical reports.
• Lead testing projects ensuring quality and timely deliverables.
• Serve as primary technical contact for customers during test setup, execution and reporting.
• Review samples and determine appropriate testing methods and procedures.
• Interpret and communicate relevant test standards, regulations, and product technologies.
• Design, build, modify, and optimize test setups for evolving requirements.
• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate lab testing equipment.
• Train and mentor lab personnel on procedures, equipment operation, and best practices.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance testing efficiency and lab operations.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve equipment, processes, and testing methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with lab safety, quality, and operational standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Minimum 4 years of experience in laboratory testing, product validation, quality assurance, or related engineering environments.

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high levels of quality and customer service.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience addressing complex testing requirements.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and laboratory personnel.

• Experience coaching, mentoring, or training junior laboratory staff.

• Excellent written, verbal, and customer-facing communication skills.

• Innovative mindset with a proven ability to identify and implement process improvements.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

• Experience incorporating automation tools and technologies into testing processes is preferred.

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
