Laboratory Officer/Technician (BSL-3 Operations), A*STAR IDL

A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs (A*STAR IDL) is seeking a Laboratory Officer/ Technician (BSL-3 operations) to join us. The Laboratory Officer/ Technician will engage in day-to-day operations, housekeeping, maintenance of the high containment (BSL-3) and BSL-2 enhanced laboratories. This role will involve but is not limited to the following:

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform lab biohazard waste collection, sort, autoclave, and safe disposal.
• Liaise with biohazard waste contractor for scheduled disposal.
• Manage laboratory supplies, chemical and equipment inventory.
• Assist in coordination of the lab maintenance, calibration, repair of faulty and recertification of laboratory equipment.
• Coordinate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely delivery of lab supplies and stock checking.
• Track and manage personal protective equipment (PPE) inventory, perform regular checks, and replenish stock as needed.
• Maintain overall cleanliness and organization of the laboratories.
• Carry loads such as lab laundry and send for cleaning, drying and redistributing to storage cabinet.
• Perform ad-hoc duties as required to facilitate smooth and efficient operation of the lab.

Job Requirements:

• "N" Level/"O" Level/ITE/NITEC/Higher NITEC/Diploma.
• Minimum 2 years working experience in a BSL-2 laboratory setting.
• Experience in a high containment environment will be advantageous.
• Team player, proactive and possess good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
• Wear PPE and don respirator to perform daily work.
• Knowledge of biohazard waste management and autoclaving procedures.
• Familiarity with research animal facility housekeeping.
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Willing to learn and ability to follow strict safety protocols and guidelines
