Job summary

Inspectorate (Singapore) Pte Ltd is seeking a Chemistry/Lab Technician to perform tests using standard methods in a petroleum laboratory in Singapore. You will ensure data quality, review results, and support laboratory functions, with responsibilities including housekeeping and shift handovers.

The role requires a Diploma in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or equivalent, plus experience with key analytical instruments. Overtime and team collaboration are part of the routine.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering; professional certificate or Higher Nitec acceptable.
• 1 year in petroleum or petrochemical lab preferred; entry-level considered.
• Experience with GC, GCMS, HPLC, FTIR, ICP-OES/ICP-MS; UV spectrophotometer, distillation unit, density meter.

Responsibilities

• Carry out tests in accordance with standard methods given on the worksheet.
• Ensure data generated in laboratory meets all the data handling guidelines.
• Review and repeat tests if suspicious or abnormal results are encountered.
• Participate in all Laboratory functions including proficiency testing, SQC checks, meetings, discussions.
• Maintain good housekeeping of the work area; clear up after each test.
• Assist chemists in new methods development.
• Standardize reagents/equipment; prepare titration solvents and test solutions when necessary.
• Work overtime when required.
• Represent the Laboratory for witness at third-party laboratory.
• Perform any tasks as assigned by management.
• Maintain cleanliness of work area during work and before handing over.
• Arrive punctually to work and take over from the previous shift.

Requirements

• Minimum Diploma in Chemistry/Chemical engineering; applicants with professional certificate or Higher Nitec with related experience will be considered.

• One year of working experience in petroleum or petrochemical laboratory industry preferred, entry level or applicants without relevant experience will be considered.

• Experience in handling laboratory instruments such as GC, GCMS, HPLC, FTIR, ICP-OES, ICP-MS, UV spectrophotometer or petroleum physical testing such as distillation unit, flash point tester, density meter etc.

• Able to work twelve (12) hour morning and night shifts.

• Able to work in a team and support the Team Leader/Assistant Team Leader
