A family restaurant in Singapore is seeking a Front of House Cafe Supervisor to ensure excellent customer service and oversee operations. Ideal candidates should be customer-oriented, detail-focused, and able to handle cash transactions. Proficiency in English is necessary, with additional languages preferred. This position offers a dynamic work environment where you’ll manage service flow and contribute to a friendly café atmosphere.
Introduction
Marie’s Lapis Café is a family restaurant with a seating capacity of 22 customers, located at 537 Bedok North Street 3, #01-575. The menu features Nyonya and Western cuisine, with desserts including waffles, gelato, and Nyonya Kueh. Beverages offered are specialty coffee, tea, and soda. The fully air-conditioned café is applying for Halal certification. We are seeking a hardworking, customer-oriented Front of House Cafe Supervisor to oversee the smooth end-to-end service from kitchen to table, ensuring excellent customer service.
Roles and Responsibilities
The assistant cook is expected to serve customers, clear and clean tables, attend to customer needs, and manage Google review ratings. Responsibilities in the kitchen include assisting the chef with dish dressing, food preparation, and cleaning.
1. Beverages – Serve coffee and tea, with training provided on brewing and serving specialty coffee.
2. Work Ethics – Be punctual, handle reasonable job requests such as washing dishes, checking stock, packing the storeroom, cleaning tables and chairs, and maintaining cleanliness. Follow all PDPA guidelines, handle monetary transactions with integrity, and be prepared to work late when busy.
3. Stock Management – Be trained in stock keeping, purchasing procedures, and be organized. Use productivity tools such as MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, POS systems, website, and phone camera effectively.
To be a successful Assistant Cook, you must:
a. Be accountable for stocks, cash sales, product quality, and wastage.
b. Take accurate orders, acknowledge mistakes, and implement processes to prevent recurrence.
c. Commit to goals and take proactive actions to achieve them.
d. Maintain excellent store condition, care for equipment, and arrange displays.
e. Enjoy working with people, be courteous, and maintain a neat appearance.
f. Handle money accurately, be highly motivated, possess good problem-solving skills, and be willing to assist colleagues even during late hours.
g. Follow all company policies and procedures.
Communication Skills
Strong, detailed communication skills are essential for customer interaction and smooth service. Proficiency in English is required; additional languages like Mandarin or Malay are a plus.
Attention to Detail
Ability to perform well under pressure, multitask, and focus on delivering high-quality customer service with consistency and credibility.
Flexibility
Willingness to perform various tasks, work extra hours during busy periods, and assist in areas beyond the usual scope as needed.
Education and Essential Skills
A diploma from a recognized college such as Republic Polytechnic, Temasek Polytechnic, or Nanyang Polytechnic is preferred. Fresh graduates willing to learn are welcome.
