Job summary

A leading company in Wealth Management is seeking a junior trader to support their Capital Markets team. The role provides extensive exposure to various financial products while assisting in middle-office support tasks and trading activities. Ideal candidates should possess strong programming skills and relevant educational background, coupled with experience in trading environments.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3-5 years of working experience in relevant fields in dealing room or back-office environment preferred.
  • Patient and meticulous with good administrative skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, autonomous and curious.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Middle Office tasks for Capital Markets team, including checking deals details and trade reconciliations.
  • Provide quotations of FX/SP prices and manage the Bank’s nostro position.
  • Assist in preparing daily MIS market commentary and other tasks as assigned.

Job description

This is a hybrid role as a dealing support and trainee/junior trader for multi-assets within the Capital Markets team. We are looking for an aspiring individual who is able to integrate technology into trading process. This position provides an excellent opportunity to be exposed to Equities, Bonds, Futures, Listed and OTC Securities Derivatives, Structured Products, and FX & Precious Metals related products in the Capital Markets team.

Key Responsibilities

Middle-Office Support

  • Good spreadsheet skills is essential to troubleshoot and enhance existing blotters.
  • Ability to create new automation to any existing/new tasks
  • Perform Middle Office tasks for the Capital Markets team, i.e. checking of deals details, trades reconciliation with back-office and counterparties, deals input, generate product termsheets where applicable
  • Provide trade fixings related tasks for FX and SP desk and disseminate details to RMs and clients in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform all post-trade tasks including updating and up-keeping of deals details and maturity for both FX and SP desk
  • Perform deals data management for reporting purposes
  • Assist in preparing ad hoc marketing presentation material
  • Assist in preparing daily MIS market commentary and weekly morning meeting
  • To cover HK counterpart when he/she is on leave

Trading

  • With the supervision of Capital Markets Specialists where necessary, provide quotation of FX/SP prices to internal stakeholders and/or can execute Capital Markets products
  • Assist to manage Bank’s nostro position as well as forward positions reconciliation for the FX&PM team
  • Assume any other tasks as assigned within the Capital Markets team

Requirements

  • Strong computing/programming skill is essential especially in Excel/VBA
  • Minimum tertiary education in Business/Banking/Finance/Economics and ideally with Computer/Financial Engineering or related disciplines
  • Minimum 3-5 years of working experience in relevant fields in dealing room or back-office environment preferred
  • Patient and meticulous with good administrative skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, autonomous and curious
  • A strong team player to part of the wider Capital Markets team who is willing put in the extra mile
