Percept Solutions is seeking a Junior Software Engineer (Java) to join our application development team in Singapore. Fresh graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of experience are welcome to apply as they build careers in software development and enterprise applications.

You will collaborate with experienced developers, business analysts, and project leads to design, develop, test, implement and maintain IT applications, while following Agile processes and best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, IT, Software Engineering, or related discipline.
• Fresh graduates welcome; up to 2 years of experience considered.
• Basic Java and OO concepts; understanding of web app development.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases; SDLC basics.
• Exposure to Agile is an advantage; good teamwork and communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist in analysis, design, development, testing, and maintenance of IT systems.
• Develop and enhance applications using Java under senior guidance.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Prepare technical documentation and program specifications.
• Develop and execute test cases; support SIT and UAT.
• Troubleshoot issues and assist in deployment activities.
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, project managers, and stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile sprint planning, stand-ups, and reviews.

Job description

We are looking for a Junior Software Engineer (Java) to join our application development team. This role is suitable for fresh graduates or candidates with up to 2 years of relevant experience who are interested in building their careers in software development and enterprise applications. The successful candidate will work closely with experienced developers, business analysts, project leads, and other team members to support the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of IT applications.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in the analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems and applications.
• Develop and enhance applications using Java and related technologies under the guidance of senior team members.
• Understand business and user requirements and assist in translating them into technical solutions.
• Prepare and update program specifications, technical documentation, and system documentation.
• Develop and execute test cases and support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Investigate application issues and assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical problems.
• Support application deployment and post-implementation activities.
• Assist in maintaining and enhancing existing applications based on user requirements.
• Work closely with developers, business analysts, project managers, infrastructure teams, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in Agile development activities such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, testing, and reviews.
• Follow software development best practices, coding standards, and development procedures.
• Gain an understanding of application, system, database, and integration dependencies.
• Keep up to date with relevant technologies, development tools, and software engineering practices.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
• Candidates with up to 1-2 years of relevant software development experience are also welcome.
• Basic knowledge of Java and object-oriented programming concepts.
• Basic understanding of web application development.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Basic understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Exposure to Agile development methodologies would be an advantage.
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
