Job Description

We are seeking a Junior Optics Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Integrated Medical Technology engineering team. You will work closely with the Senior Optics Engineer to design, prototype, and validate optical subsystems that enable new diagnostic platforms. You will take ownership of hands‑on prototyping, optical setup assembly, and test automation to translate ideas into market‑ready products.

This position is ideal for engineers with 0–3 years of experience who aspire to develop strong applied skills in optical system development, instrumentation control, and experimental data analysis within an integrated diagnostics environment.

Role and Responsibilities

• Build and align optical prototypes, test benches, and jigs for optical imaging, spectroscopy, and detection experiments.
• Develop and maintain instrument control and data acquisition scripts using Python or MATLAB for lasers, LEDs, cameras, and spectrometers.
• Implement and execute optical test protocols defined by the senior engineer, ensuring data quality, traceability, and repeatability.
• Process and analyze experimental data using Python/MATLAB, generating engineering insights and reports for design evaluation.
• Assist in tolerance analysis, optical alignment, and system calibration during prototype integration phases.
• Support the creation of opto‑mechanical drawings and assembly documentation in collaboration with mechanical and electrical teams.
• Participate in design reviews and troubleshooting sessions, contributing experimental observations and improvement suggestions.
• Maintain laboratory documentation, test reports, and data management following design control principles (ISO13485).
• Prepare and present experimental results, prototype performance summaries, and test data analyses to project team members and stakeholders, ensuring technical insights are clearly communicated and actionable.

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 0–3 years of relevant hands‑on experience (including academic or research lab work). MSc/PhD candidates with strong lab or instrumentation experience are also welcome.
• Familiarity with optical alignment, imaging systems, or spectroscopy setups.
• Proficiency in Python and/or MATLAB for instrument control and data analysis.
• Basic understanding of opto‑mechanical assembly, electronic interfacing, and lab safety practices.
• Demonstrated ability to translate experimental results into actionable engineering insights.
• Strong documentation and communication skills; proactive, detail‑oriented, and eager to learn in a multidisciplinary team environment.
• Experience with CAD (e.g., Solid Edge, SolidWorks) or optical simulation tools (e.g., Zemax, TracePro, LightTools) is an advantage.
