Job description

DxD Hub

DxD Hub is Singapore's national platform for diagnostics development. With a mission to revolutionise diagnostics and improve healthcare outcomes, DxD Hub drives the transformation of innovations into clinically validated diagnostic devices ready for market adoption — leveraging an end-to-end, ISO 13485-compliant productisation engine across In Vitro Diagnostics, Point-Of-Care Connected Devices, Digital Diagnostics, and Digital Therapeutics. Our strengths are in cross-disciplinary product development particularly in molecular, protein assay, immunoassays, and digital diagnostic technologies.

Job Description

We are seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer (1 year contract) to join our multidisciplinary Integrated Medical Technology engineering team. You will work closely with senior engineers to assemble, characterise, and validate electrical and electronic subsystems that power new diagnostic platforms. Your primary contribution will be in hands-on bench testing, test automation, and systematic verification of hardware — translating engineering designs into reliable, well-documented prototype evidence.

This position is ideal for engineers with 0–3 years of experience who have a solid grounding in embedded hardware and electronics, and who aspire to deepen their applied skills in instrumentation, test engineering, and device integration within a diagnostics environment.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Assemble, bring up, and verify electronic prototypes including PCBs, sensor interfaces, power supply circuits, and communication modules under the guidance of the senior electrical engineer.
  • Read and interpret PCB schematics and layout documentation to understand circuit intent, identify test points, and plan verification approaches.
  • Develop and maintain test scripts and instrument control routines using Python to automate electrical characterisation, signal acquisition, and functional verification.
  • Implement and execute electrical test protocols — including continuity, power integrity, signal quality, and functional performance tests — ensuring data quality, traceability, and repeatability.
  • Process and document test results, generating clear engineering reports that support design evaluation and design history file requirements.
  • Support wiring, cable harness assembly, and connector interfacing for integrated device builds in collaboration with mechanical and firmware teams.
  • Participate in design reviews and troubleshooting sessions, contributing bench observations and improvement suggestions.
  • Supervise and guide interns on assigned electrical tasks, providing day-to-day technical direction and reviewing their work output.
  • Maintain laboratory documentation, test reports, and data management following design control principles (ISO 13485).
  • Prepare and present electrical subsystem performance summaries and test data analyses to project team members and stakeholders, ensuring technical insights are clearly communicated and actionable.

Key Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 0–3 years of relevant hands-on experience, including academic project, internship, or research lab work.
  • Solid foundation in embedded hardware architecture, analogue and digital circuit fundamentals, and electronic component behaviour — this is the non-negotiable core; other skills can be developed on the job.
  • Ability to read and understand PCB schematics and assembly documentation sufficiently to plan and execute hardware verification independently.
  • Proficiency in Python for test scripting, instrument control, and data acquisition; this is the primary programming requirement for this role.
  • Competency with bench instruments including oscilloscopes, multimeters, function generators, and power supplies.
  • Familiarity with common embedded communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C) and sensor interfacing concepts.
  • Basic understanding of PCB assembly, soldering, electronic test practices, and lab safety.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills; proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to learn in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience with firmware development (e.g., Arduino, STM32, Raspberry Pi) is a meaningful advantage.
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools (e.g., KiCad, Altium) is good to have, though not required for this role.
  • Exposure to EMC/EMI principles and test considerations is a plus.
  • MATLAB experience is beneficial but not expected.
