Our client is the corporate and investment banking arm of The Group, world's 10th largest bank by total assets. Their Singapore center, Information Systems Asia Pacific (ISAP), is one of the 3 main IT hubs for worldwide business with over 1000 IT staff covering Production and Application Development activities. They work daily with international branches located in 33 countries by supporting their IT solutions and envisioning and developing the Bank’s future information systems. The department is responsible for development and maintenance of Capital Market IT applications (in-house and package) used worldwide, covering Front Office (Murex, Apex, Orchestrade…), Back Office (Summit, Calypso…), Market data referential (Asset Control..), Market Risk (in-house application on big data technologies). The Transversal Operation division works across the full value chain of Back Office and specially on the Collateral management. Within GIT and more specifically Capital Market IT, the GMD & MCR Transversal sector has launched the COMET project, aimed at building the new collateral management system:

  • Receiving data from position-keeping systems
  • Receiving data from the bank's repositories
  • Management of collateral contracts
  • Collateral management for all types of contracts and products: Calculations and issuance of margin calls and interest (collat & IM)
  • Reconciliation management
  • Creation and editing of user reports.

This project is managed in Agile mode and is an in-house Bank's development. We are seeking a talented Software Engineer with a strong aptitude for programming to join our dynamic Capital Market Department. In this role, you will contribute to projects and possess the capability to make breakthroughs in design, development, testing, debugging and implementing software applications or specialised utility programs in support of end users' needs on platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Research, design, and develop computer and network software or specialised utility programs. Analyse user needs and develop software solutions, applying principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis.
  • Identify and resolve issues which have organisation wide and long-term impact. Identify security risks, create requirements to capture security issues, and perform initial threat modelling to ensure coding standards meet security requirements.
  • Develop and maintain the software configuration management plan and oversee the building, verification and implementation of software releases. Provide guidance and technical support to the quality testing teams.
  • Update software, enhance existing software capabilities, and develop and direct software testing and validation procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business analysts/support teams…) to ensure smooth integration of new features and updates and troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application-related issues.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes relevant to capital markets.
  • Participate in proof of concept for new technology R&D.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and automation by leveraging your programming skills to create custom tools and scripts that automate repetitive tasks and reduce manual effort.
  • Develop scripts and automation tools using Python, shell scripting, and other basic programming languages to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
  • Engage and support others in the team, readily put forth ideas in a clear and compelling manner.
  • Collaborate with computer hardware engineers (CAGIP and ITS) to integrate infrastructure constraints (whether in-premise or cloud) hardware and software systems aligned with capacity, develop specifications and performance requirements.

SKILLS

Must have

  • 1+ years of experience in software development
  • 1+ years of experience in Java / J2EE development
  • 1+ years of experience with Jenkins, GIT (GitLab)
  • 1+ years of experience in Ansible
  • Experience in cloud native architecture (Microservices).
  • AWS cloud architecture
  • Experience with Docker / Kubernetes / Microservices
  • Strong knowledge of various design patterns
  • A strong understanding of recent Java language features, such as lambdas, streams, and futures
  • Good knowledge of algorithms and data structures, with strong fundamentals in complexity analysis
  • Strong ability to analyze code – understand execution flow & debug even without access to a debugger
  • Experience with Maven, Git, writing and maintaining integration tests
  • Strong familiarity with APIs development and security design
  • Good knowledge of SQL or an SQL-inspired dialect such as HQL
  • An ideal candidate will also have expertise in some or all of the following: JupyterLab, JupyterHub, Jupyter notebook, Mercury ecosystem Gitlab, Jenkins and Ansible with exposure to DevOps culture Jira or a similar issue-tracking system.
  • Appetite to keep up with the technology trend and participate in communities.
  • Passion for sharing expertise and developing the skills of team members.

Nice to have

  • Additionally, knowledge of the following would be helpful although it is not required:
  • Web development fundamentals (HTML, JavaScript, typescript, jQuery, ReactJS, etc)
  • ElasticSearch
  • Understanding or interest in finance & financial markets, particularly interest rate derivatives in their many forms (Forwards, Futures, Swaps, Swaptions, etc)
  • Willingness to do L3 Support if required.
