Job summary

Heerema Marine Contractors Singapore Pte. Ltd. seeks a (Jr.) Structural Engineer to design and analyze offshore lifting arrangements and temporary structures. You will participate in concept development, calculation work, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams on offshore projects.

The role offers exposure to vessel-based deployments and fabrication yard activities, with opportunities for rapid technical growth in a leading marine contractor environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in Offshore/Civil/Mechanical Engineering or similar.
• Fluent in English (spoken and written).
• Affinity with structural engineering and offshore projects.
• Analytical, practical and pragmatic approach.
• Willingness to work temporarily offshore on vessels or yards.

Responsibilities

• Assist in development of concept and detailed designs for offshore lifting arrangements and temporary steel structures.
• Perform structural calculations under supervision using applicable methods and software.
• Prepare and update structural calculation packages, technical notes, and design reports.
• Verify designs against international standards, codes, specs and project requirements.
• Coordinate with T&I engineers, marine engineers, draftsmen and operations staff.
• Conduct quality checks on calculations, reports and drawings.
• Contribute to continuous improvement through knowledge sharing.

As a (Jr.) Structural Engineer you provide designs and analysis for product development, study, tender and commercial T&I projects.

You will have the opportunity to go offshore on our vessels or on the fabrication yards and see your designs and work in action, supporting our fleet with anything that requires a bright technical mind and pro-active attitude.

Daily activities

Your tasks and responsibilities include the following:

• Assist in the development of concept and detailed designs for offshore lifting arrangements and temporary steel structures, including lift points, lifting frames, grillages, and sea fastening systems.

• Perform structural calculations under the supervision of senior engineers using applicable analysis methods and software tools.

• Prepare and update structural calculation packages, technical notes, and design reports.

• Verify designs against relevant international standards, codes, specifications, and project requirements.

• Coordinate with Transport & Installation (T&I) Engineers, Marine Engineers, Draftsmen, and Operations personnel to ensure safe, practical, and efficient designs.

• Perform quality checks on calculations, reports, and drawings before submission.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by sharing lessons learned, identifying improvement opportunities, and participating in knowledge-sharing activities.

Who will you work with?

The (Jr.) Structural Engineer is member of the Technology Department. You will work in a team with other engineers in various disciplines and actively liaise with colleagues in other departments and offices, like procurement, fabrication, and operations.

Furthermore, you have:

• A Bachelor or Masters degree in Offshore Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Similar.

• Fluent in English (spoken and written)

• Affinity with structural engineering, project preparation and execution of offshore projects.

• Excellent analytical, practical and pragmatic skills.

• The willingness to work (temporarily)offshore on our vessels, overseas or in our other offices.
