Junior Dry FFA Broker

Headquartered in Singapore with presence in the United States and Indonesia, Straits Financial serves as the financial services arm of the CWT Group, a global leading provider of integrated logistics and financial services. We provide a fully-integrated service for our clients to access the financial and commodity derivative markets and will continue to expand into key financial and commodity markets.

Straits Financial has an opportunity for a Junior Dry FFA (Forward Freight Agreements) broker to join the team in Singapore. This is an entry-level role for an energetic individual who has a passion for financial markets. The ideal candidate will be energetic and a natural networker, as well as being proactive, precise and diligent in their approach to servicing clients and developing new business.

In addition, you would be entrepreneurial, analytical, well-organized and can work well under pressure as well as be a team player.

This role offers a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts, develop market analysis skills, and contribute to our clients' shipping strategies.

This position reports to the Head of Freight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work as a team to develop new accounts and serve existing customers on Dry FFA products

  • Provide timely and precise broking services, accepting and executing orders on behalf of the client

  • Interacting with traders and handling negotiations of both parties concerned

  • Reconcile and book trades at relevant exchanges as necessary

  • On-board new clients following correct Compliance and Operations procedures to ensure proper KYC and documentations are maintained for billing, recording and collection

  • Produce regular updates on market pricing and market direction for the customer base

Requirements

You should possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, maritime studies, or a related field. Fresh graduates or students graduating in 2025 are welcomed to apply

  • Interest in the maritime industry and a basic understanding of financial markets

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in both English and Chinese

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks under pressure
