Job description

We are looking for a motivated and experienced Junior Buyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in growing revenue and developing relationships with key brands. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of top brands, developing and executing sales strategies, and driving growth.

The ZALORA Buyer has a high level of ownership and accountability. With responsibilities for your own brand and range, you are expected to have a holistic business-wide perspective, collaborating outside of your direct team to identify wins and opportunities.

Success and progression at this level require strong behavioral and operational skills, including continuous development of people skills, job skills, and a good understanding of our customers and competition.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  2. Develop and execute sales strategies to meet revenue targets.
  3. Monitor and analyze sales performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  4. Conduct regular brand review meetings (monthly, quarterly, seasonal).
  5. Build and buy the most relevant range for the target customer.
  6. Own weekly trade activities within your department, including replenishment, stock swaps, RTS, etc.
  7. Support contract negotiations with new brands and suppliers.
  8. Stay informed on fashion and retail trends and assess their impact on trading.
  9. Conduct competitor analysis to identify opportunities and gather ideas for online layout, content, brand acquisitions, and sales initiatives.
  10. Identify promotional and marketing opportunities to motivate sales and enhance the retail environment.
  11. Perform SWOT analysis during the season and at season end, presenting findings to senior management.
  12. Manage brand performance metrics such as margin, sell-through, stock turn, and delivery.
Requirements:
  1. 1-2 years of experience in retail, preferably in shoes/sports buying and merchandising, with strong e-commerce exposure.
  2. Experience with the buying cycle, seasonal planning, and management.
  3. Highly analytical, proficient in Excel, with proven data analysis skills.
  4. Effective communication skills with brands and internal teams.
  5. Attention to detail and accuracy.
  6. Proactive, driven, and results-oriented in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Strong problem-solving skills with a comprehensive understanding of the full picture.
