Job summary

ATOP Academy PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking a dedicated JC Social Studies teacher to deliver engaging lessons aligned with the Singapore MOE JC syllabus. You will assess students, tailor lesson plans to gaps, and guide them in source-based and structured-response answering techniques.

You will foster critical thinking, civic awareness, and clear communication, while maintaining a positive, disciplined classroom environment and providing timely feedback to parents on progress.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of JC Social Studies concepts and contemporary issues.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English.
• Strong communication, interpersonal and classroom management skills.
• Prior teaching or tutoring experience is an advantage but not required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver JC Social Studies lessons aligned with MOE JC syllabus.
• Assess students' learning needs and customize lesson plans to address gaps.
• Teach key issues related to citizenship, governance, diversity, globalisation, and Singapore's role.
• Develop students' ability to interpret sources, evaluate reliability and draw conclusions.
• Guide students in source-based case studies and structured-response answers.
• Help students construct balanced arguments with evidence and reasoning.
• Mark assignments, monitor progress and provide timely feedback.
• Prepare students for school assessments and national exams.
• Develop critical thinking, civic awareness and communication skills.
• Create a positive, engaging, and disciplined learning environment.
• Communicate progress with parents professionally.
• Develop teaching resources and examination practice materials.
• Uphold ATOP Academy's teaching standards and commitment to excellence.
