IKOMA Language School PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks a Japanese language teacher to conduct lessons mainly for Singaporean working adults.

The role uses the direct method with Japanese as the primary language, creating an immersive environment where teachers and students communicate naturally in Japanese. The candidate should have native-level Japanese, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent, and a teaching qualification in Japanese language teaching (coursework, degree, or competency test).

Qualifications

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese and ability to conduct lessons in Japanese.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required.
• One of the following qualifications in Japanese language teaching: university major/minor in teaching, a comprehensive teaching course, or a recognized teaching competency test.

Responsibilities

• Teach Japanese as a foreign language to Singaporean working adults, using the direct method with Japanese as the primary language.
• Assist in lesson planning and school operations to support daily routines.
• Promote cultural exchange and help students develop practical Japanese communication skills.

• Teach Japanese as a foreign language mainly to Singaporean working adults.
• Conduct lessons using the direct method, with Japanese as the primary language of instruction, to create an immersive learning environment where teachers and students can communicate naturally in Japanese.
• Help students develop practical Japanese communication skills that can be applied in everyday and professional settings.
• Promote cultural exchange and cross-cultural understanding, and introduce Japanese customs, traditions, culture, and ways of thinking.
• Participate in lesson planning and other duties related to the operation of the school.

Minimum Requirements:

• Native-level proficiency in Japanese, with the ability to conduct lessons in Japanese;
• Possess at least a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent;
• Possess at least one of the following qualifications, training, or academic backgrounds in Japanese language teaching:
  • a. Majored or minored in Japanese language teaching at university;
  • b. Completed a comprehensive Japanese language teacher training course; or
  • c. Passed the Japanese Language Teaching Competency Test or obtained an equivalent qualification.

Others:

• 6-day (44-hour) work week with one weekday off (Full-time position)
• Working hours may be scheduled between 9:00 am and 10:30 pm on weekdays, and between 9:00 am and 8:30 pm on weekends
• To be able to commit to classes that are scheduled mainly on weekday evenings and on weekends.
• Good team player with good interpersonal and communications skills.
